Inform Your Decision in the Unification Vote
On June 2nd, Chicago Alliance of Charter Teachers and Staff (ChiACTS) Local 4343 will hold an all member meeting to discuss unification and address your questions.
On June 5th and 6th 2017 all ChiACTS Local 4343 members will vote on amendments to the ChiACTS Constitution which will help us survive and thrive in this challenging political environment through unification with Chicago Teachers Union (CTU). In order to ensure that you are adequately informed prior to the vote there will be individual campus meetings and we are providing you with the following documents:
- Unification FAQ - Responses from union officials and experts to the most commonly asked questions regarding the potential merge with CTU
- Federation PowerPoint - outlines alternative options to unification and explains the need for changes to ChiACTS in order to sustain our current services
- Dues Proposal - outlines how dues would change with unification
- Summary of Constitutional Changes - in order to merge with CTU, the ChiACTS constitution would have to be changed. The CTU members would then have to approve constitutional changes and then, upon unification ChiACTS would dissolve its constitution as we are brought into the CTU as The Charter Division
Constitutional Chart - a breakdown of how executive positions would change with unification
